Alice Tavares holds a PhD in History (Middle Ages), an MA in Regional and Local History, and a BA in History, all from the University of Lisbon. She is currently a researcher at the Institute for Medieval Studies (NOVA University of Lisbon.)
She has been involved in many national and international research projects: on heritage; merchant networks, business, culture and art; Sepharad; local and national justice. Her latest was on the architecture and historical perception of múdejar in Portugal (Instituto de Estudios Turolenses – Teruel, Aragón, Spain). Since 2018, she has been an editorial member board in the Progressus Journal (Siena, Italy). She has book chapters and articles in peer reviewed journals, dictionary and catalogue entries, among them “La fauna marina en Portugal (Siglos XIII-XVI): aportación para su estudio a través de la documentación jurídica y de la literatura”, in Intus – Legere Historia 12 (2018), and “Para o estudo das aves em Portugal (séculos XIII – XVI): conflitos e proteção, segundo o testemunho das fontes jurídicas e os livros de viagens.”, in Vínculos de Historia. Revista del Departamento de la Universidad de Castilla-La-Mancha  6 (2017).
