Senior zooarchaeologist in LARC (Laboratório de Arqueociências – Direcção Geral do Património Cultural) and a research member in Environmental Archaeology in CIBIO (Research Centre in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources – InBIO Associate Laboratory), a research unit in biological sciences conducting basic and applied research on the three main components of biodiversity: genes, species and ecosystems. His interests are mainly focussed on the analysis of small mammals and birds remains from an environmental perspective. Has been concerned with the use of animal bones as a working material by past human communities, incorporating to archaeozoology information from other disciplines such as Ethnology or Musicology. Has dedicated particular attention to the construction and organization of the Osteological collections of the Laboratório de Arqueociências (Direcção Geral do Património Cultural), an unquestionable tool for the right identification of faunal remains recovered from archaeological contexts.
